When
it comes to integrating pergolas into patios it is obviously best to
install the footings prior to the patio installation. If the patio is
existing however, there are often solutions to securing the pergolas to
the existing stone work. It may require design facilitations to enable
this, and these also depend on the local factors.
In
California seismic factors may require larger base pads to secure the
pergolas to. In Florida you may require the same large bases, termite
shields and larger or more braces to resist hurricane force winds.
Consider
using your Patio Pergolas to solve issues in your landscape like
privacy, shade and sound attenuation. By adding rafters in a certain
direction you can cause more or less shade during certain times of the
day in the hottest part of the year. Add vines over top to offer shade
during the hottest months. A nice deep planting pocket will help the
vines sustain themselves in the hottest and driest parts of the year.
